14.1. Предлог направления to употребляется перед обстоятельством места, отвечающим на вопрос куда?, и произносится [

] перед гласными и [

] перед согласными.

1.	Please come to my place.	Пожалуйста, приходите ко мне.
2.	Let's go to a film (match).	Давай пойдем на какой-нибудь фильм (матч).
3.	You can get to my office by the seventeen (on the seventeen) bus.	Вы можете доехать до моей конторы на семнадцатом.

1) Вам уже известны словосочетания, употребляющиеся без предлога to:

go home		пойти домой
come home get home		прийти домой
take ... home		отвести (отвезти) кого-л. (что-л.) домой

2) В предложениях типа Please phone me at my hotel. Let's visit him in his new flat и т.п. употребляется предлог местонахождения, а не предлог направления.

14.2. Запомните словосочетания с предлогом to, в которых обычно употребляется определенный артикль the:

gо to the theatre [']	пойти (ходить) в театр
gо to the cinema [']	пойти (ходить) в кино
go to the chemist's [']	пойти в аптеку
go to (see) the doctor (the dentist)	пойти к врачу (зубному врачу)

Вам уже известны словосочетания с предлогом to, в которых артикль отсутствует:

gо to college	учиться в институте
gо to school	ходить в школу, учиться в школе
gо to hospital	лечь в больницу
go to bed	ложиться слать

14.3. Предлог to также употребляется после глаголов listen, speak, say, explain.

1.	Listen to me!	Послушайте меня!
2.	Let's listen to the news.	Давай послушаем новости.
3.	Can I speak to Mr Hailey, please?	Я могу поговорить с г-ном Хейли?
4.	Just a moment! Let me say hello to Jack.	Одну минуту! Дайте я поздороваюсь с Джеком.
5.	Let's say goodbye to them and go home.	Давай попрощаемся с ними и поедем домой.
