Отрицательные предложения.

23.1. Отрицательная форма настоящего времени группы Simple образуется при помощи кратких отрицательных форм вспомогательного глагола do — don't [] и doesn't ['].

Для всех лиц,
кроме 3 лица ед.ч.
don't (do not)		 Для З лица ед.ч.
doesn't (does not) 		 
1. I don't smoke. He doesn't smoke.
2. They don't come on Mondays. She doesn't come on Tuesdays.
3. I don't go to college on Saturdays. This bus doesn't go to the City Hospital.
Spot doesn't like cats and they don't like him.

Как видно из примеров, основной (смысловой) глагол стоит в форме инфинитива и не изменяется (smoke, come, go, like).

Внимание: не путайте вспомогательный глагол do с полнозначным глаголом do — делать, выполнять:

осн.

 вспом. осн.
I do these jobs in the office.

I don't do these jobs in the office.
осн. вспом. осн.
He does his lessons in time.

He doesn't do his lessons in time.

23.2. Слова usually, often, only, even в отрицательном предложении стоят на своем обычном месте, перед основным глаголом:

1. I don't usually get home till seven.
2. He doesn't often stay at that hotel.
3. They don't even listen to me!
4. She doesn't only play the guitar, she plays the piano, too.

Внимание! Перевод:
I don't often use those books Я редко пользуюсь этими книгами.
He doesn't often call us. Он редко нам звонит.

Слова sometimes и occasionally могут стоять в начале отрицательного предложения:

Sometimes (occasionally) he doesn't come to the office on Tuesdays.

Слово yet может стоять как перед основным глаголом, так и в конце предложения:

She doesn't yet go to school. = She doesnt go to school yet

Запомните слово understand [,'] — понимать.

I don't understand that. Could you explain it again, please?

Дословно русское слово реако переводится словом seldom, однако гораздо чаще пользуются сочетанием often + отрицательная форма .глагола.
