Bertha's a German girt and she's got a difficult German surname. She's a student at a medical school in Great Britain. She also has a part time job as a night nurse in a big hospital.
Bertha gets up very, very early every day, has her breakfast, looks through the morning papers or listens to the breakfast news on the radio and goes to the medical school. She's already in her second year at the school. On Mondays and Thursdays she goes to the hospital after classes. Her job isn't easy and she doesn't even earn much, but she's a very kind person and likes to look after people.
On Friday evenings Bertha goes to English evening classes.
Bertha isn't married yet, but she's got a boyfriend called Roger ['

]. He's a doctor at the same hospital and helps her a lot. Bertha in her turn, helps him to learn German. His German's already good enough to read and translate medical books and understand films.
