6.1. Буквосочетания wa и wha в ударном положении перед конечной согласной буквой или двумя согласными (за исключением х, ck, g и r) читаются [].

Произнесите:

want, was, what, watch, wash

6.2. Буквосочетания wa + r и wha + r в ударном положении читаются [:], если за ними не следует гласная буква:

war, warm, ward, wharf.
